Narcbox Power and Battery

Narcbox Power and Battery

How to check if the battery is charging-

***Please be sure to use the right voltage (110V for a wall power cord and 12V for a vehicle power cord) and amps (max current drive: 1-1.5A) appropriate for the NarcBox.

If your Narcbox appears to have an issue with holding a charge or you are concerned about the power that is getting to the NarcBox, this is how to check it:
  1. On the home screen press the Settings (gear icon) in the top right corner
  2. Press NarcBox Info
  3. Press Tech Info
  4. You will see numbers for Ext Voltage and Batt Voltage

The Ext Voltage shows how much power is getting to the box from the power cord. This number should be greater than 10.00 to indicate the NarcBox is receiving enough power to run and charge the Narcbox's battery.
The Batt Voltage is the level the battery is charged.  We like to see this number above 6.00 and it should continue to rise until your battery is fully charged around 7.25.  The battery can power the NarcBox for up to 40 hours (Battery life is dependent on how much time the NarcBox spends in the Awake state and how many times the door has been opened while on battery power. The max specification assumes the NarcBox has been asleep 95% of the time and opened less than 10 times.)

If the Ext Voltage is less than 10.00 please ensure that the power cord is fully plugged into the box and fully plugged into the outlet/vehicle as well.  We include 2 power ports on the box, please try the alternate one to see if there is a change.  If the NarcBox is running off of vehicle power, you may need to turn the vehicle on to get enough power to the NarcBox.  If that doesn't change the Ext Voltage you will want to try using a 110V wall outlet.  You can either use an extension cord to reach or remove the box from the vehicle and bring it to where a 110V wall outlet is accessible.  This will help determine if there is an issue with a power cord, power source or the NarcBox.

If the Batt Voltage remains below 6.00 this simply means that your battery is not charging and the NarcBox will not stay powered for long without being plugged in. If you see that number is not getting higher while plugged in for a while and your Ext Voltage is above 10.00 there may be an issue with the battery and may need a new one.

If you have tried all of these things with no change, please reach out to us and we will help resolve the issue. Please call us at 888-627-2269 (888-NARCBOX), email at support@narcbox.com or you can also submit a ticket via this knowledge base section.
